About Jana Nayagan’s Delayed Release

Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan marks Vijay’s final film before his full-fledged political career. The film stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani in key roles, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

The film’s journey to theatres was far from smooth. Originally slated for release on January 9, Jana Nayagan was delayed after an extended certification process. KVN Productions even moved the Madras High Court seeking faster clearance. The CBFC eventually awarded the film an A certificate after nearly seven months, directing 12 cuts, including the removal of swear words. Ahead of its theatrical release, the film also suffered a major setback when a complete HD version leaked online.
