Chief Minister Mohan Yadav appealed to the public to participate in the Jal Ganga Augmentation Campaign. On Ganga Dussehra, water source worship, Ganga Kalash Yatra and Shramdaan will be done at wells and stepwells across the state. The government is emphasizing on making water conservation a mass movement.
Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on May 21 appealed to the people of the state to actively participate in the Jal Ganga Augmentation Campaign. He said that such a comprehensive and important campaign can be successful only when there is participation of the general public in it.
Referring to Rahim’s famous couplet in his message, the Chief Minister underlined the importance of water in Indian culture. He said that in our country no puja, ritual or religious work is considered complete without water resolution. In this series, Madhya Pradesh Jan Abhiyan Parishad will organize water source worship and Ganga Kalash Yatra across the state on the occasion of Ganga Dussehra on 25th May. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav also released the poster of this program.
Shramdaan will be done on wells, stepwells and ponds on Ganga Dussehra.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continuous work is being done on water conservation across the country. In this direction, Madhya Pradesh government is running Jal Ganga Enhancement Campaign from Gudi Padwa to June 30. He told that on the day of Ganga Dashami, Shramdaan will be done simultaneously on wells, stepwells, canals and ponds in the entire state. The Chief Minister described it as a big public campaign at the state level. He said that by connecting Jan Abhiyan Parishad, Gram Panchayats, social institutions and various organizations, extensive work will be done in the direction of water conservation.
Importance of water explained through Rahim’s couplet
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that water has special importance in Sanatan culture. Quoting Rahim’s couplet, he said-
“Rahim says, Keep your dignity, everything is meaningless without it,
Water is lost and man’s pearls are lost.”
The Chief Minister said that the imagination of life and creation is incomplete without water. In the changing environment and weather conditions, the need for water conservation has increased more than ever. He called upon the people of the state to work together for water consciousness and water conservation.
Public awareness campaign will be run through social and religious organizations
The Chief Minister said that in this campaign there will be participation of the Council’s associate network, Prasfutan Samiti, Navankur Sakhi, student-counsellors of CMCLDP, National Service Scheme volunteers and social, religious, cultural and spiritual organizations. Through these institutions, a public awareness campaign regarding water conservation will be run across the state, so that more and more people can join this initiative to save water.

Told water conservation campaign as a big opportunity for the public
The Chief Minister said that this campaign is an important opportunity for the 8.5 crore people of the state to get involved in water conservation. He appealed to all the people to become participants of this campaign. He said that Ganga Dashami is not only a religious festival, but it is also a symbol of our Sanatan culture and faith in Mother Ganga. The Chief Minister said that Madhya Pradesh is the motherland of more than 250 rivers and realizing the responsibility of conserving water sources, we will have to make this campaign a mass movement.
