kuwait city [कुवैत]July 8 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday met Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah and discussed further expanding ties. Jaishankar’s visit to Kuwait is part of his multi-national tour covering Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, the United States and Belgium. Upon his arrival in Kuwait, he was welcomed by Deputy Foreign Minister Hamad Suleiman Mashaan Al-Mashaan.

Jaishankar thanked the Crown Prince of Kuwait for sharing information on developments in the Gulf region. In a post on X, Jaishankar said, ‘Honored to meet His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Kuwait this morning. Hearty congratulations to Prime Minister @narendramodi. Important meetings were also held in Bahrain

Before reaching Kuwait, Jaishankar had visited Bahrain, where he reaffirmed India’s commitment to further deepening its long-standing partnership with the Gulf country. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Jaishankar met King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain in the presence of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He also met Deputy Prime Minister Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.

During the meetings, Jaishankar greeted President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening the long-standing friendly bilateral partnership with Bahrain. He also thanked the leadership of Bahrain for ensuring the safety and welfare of the Indian community in the country.

The External Affairs Ministry said Jaishankar also held bilateral talks with Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zaini. The two sides reviewed bilateral relations, discussed ways to expand cooperation in various fields and exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest. Jaishankar also congratulated Bahrain on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the term 2026-27.

During his visit to Bahrain, the External Affairs Minister interacted with members of the Indian community and appreciated their contribution to the economic development of Bahrain and their role in strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Relations with Qatar are also getting stronger

Earlier, Jaishankar concluded his visit to Qatar, where he held wide-ranging bilateral discussions with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The talks focused on enhancing cooperation in energy security, trade and strategic investments, while also reaffirming the strong people-to-people ties between India and Qatar. (ANI)
