‘It makes you angry’: Matthew Perry’s family talk about actor’s death investigation

Actor Matthew Perry’s death turned out to be more painful for his family after the investigation took place into what happened. According to the autopsy, Perry passed away due to the acute effects of Ketamine, a year ago.

A total of five people- including two of his assistants, two doctors and one other person were said to be involved in his death’s connection.

In the latest issue of People’s magazine, Perry’s stepfather revealed the pain his family went through after the actor’s demise. Keith Morrison said that it was “painful” to cope with the information that was revealed during the investigation. “It makes you angry,” he added.

He told the news outlet, “I can only say I suspect it, that authorities, agencies got together to investigate and to lay charges against these people because Matthew is so famous or well known, it would get around.”

In an interview on October 28 with The Today Show, Perry’s mother Suzanne said that she was “thrilled” that people involved in Perry’s death are being held responsible. Morrison too, added that he is “hoping” that Perry’s death will serve as a warning for “people who have put themselves in the business of supplying people with the drugs that will kill them.” He added, “It doesn’t matter what your professional credentials are. You’re going down, baby.”

Last words and wishes

Perry’s stepfather disclosed that the actor’s last wish was that people remember him “for helping other people, more than his famousness for Friends. That has now become our mission in life is to carry that wish on.”

In October 2024, Suzanne and Caitlin, Perry’s half-sisters, launched the Matthew Perry Foundation of Canada. This foundation supports people in recovery. Matthew Perry spent a lot of his childhood in Canada after his parents separated when he was 1 year old.

 After Matthew Perry passed away, a separate Matthew Perry Foundation was started in the United States. This foundation provides grants to local organizations that help people on their recovery journeys, according to the foundation’s board president Doug Chapin, who was also Matthew Perry’s manager.
