There are some spices and herbs used in the kitchen which strengthen the immunity.

Spices and herbs are an important part of Indian kitchen. In Ayurveda, they are said to be full of medicinal properties. You can make some such spices and herbs a part of your diet during monsoon. This will also improve your digestion and keep your immunity strong.

Turmeric is immunity booster

Turmeric, one of the most basic spices used in the kitchen, is an excellent immunity booster. According to PubMed, curcumin present in turmeric cooperates with macrophages, dendritic cells, B, T to revive immunity. Apart from this, it is anti-inflammatory, hence helpful in reducing swelling. You can boil a small piece of raw turmeric in the morning and drink its water. If digestion is good then turmeric can be taken in milk.

You can make black pepper a part of your diet in monsoon. Peppermint is found in it which is helpful in keeping your lungs healthy. According to Health Line, it contains many antioxidants which protect the body from free radicals. Apart from this, it is also full of anti-inflammatory properties. Black pepper should be taken with turmeric. This is a great combination to protect against seasonal infections.

Talking about herbs, Tulsi is a plant which is easily available in most of the houses. This is considered an excellent medicine. Tulsi not only boosts immunity, but it is also helpful in providing relief from problems like phlegm, sore throat, cold, cough etc. To prevent or get relief from viral problems occurring during monsoon, you can drink tea and decoction of basil.

Garlic will increase immunity

To boost immunity in monsoon, include garlic in your diet. According to Health Line, it contains compounds which help in fighting flu-causing germs by increasing immunity. Especially whole garlic contains a compound called alliin and when you chop it finely and chew it and eat it, it gets converted into allicin. It contains up to 80 percent of the bioactive compounds of garlic. You can chew and eat 1 or 2 cloves of garlic daily in the morning.

During the rains, such things should be included in the diet which are easy to digest, because digestion becomes slow during this time. Outside food should be avoided, because due to lack of hygiene and heat and humidity in the weather, bacteria grow rapidly which can cause illness. Make seasonal fruits and vegetables a part of your diet, but keep in mind that all these foods should be eaten after washing them thoroughly.
