Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Monday accused NCP (SP) supremo Sharad Pawar of turning the election battle of Baramati assembly constituency into a family fight. He said that it takes generations to keep family ties together, but it takes only a moment to break them.
NCP (Sharad Pawar) has made Yugendra, son of Ajit Pawar’s brother Srinivas, its candidate from Baramati. Ajit Pawar is a seven-time MLA from this seat. Ajit Pawar claimed that despite the opposition of his mother (Yugendra’s grandmother), NCP (SP) gave ticket to Yugendra from Baramati.
Ajit Pawar filed nomination
Actually, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar addressed a rally in Baramati after filing his nomination papers. During this, he has accepted the mistake of fielding his wife Sunetra Pawar against Supriya Sule, the sitting MP of Baramati and Sharad Pawar’s daughter, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
‘Don’t fill the form against grandfather’
He said now tell whose fault it was? I had to fill the form (nomination form) first. My mother had told me not to fill the form against my grandfather. Whatever is happening is not fair. The elders in the family (Sharad Pawar) should have advised him about this. Ajit Pawar said who asked Yugendra to fill the form, sir (Sharad Pawar). Does this mean that he (Sharad Pawar) has created a rift in the family of Tatya Saheb (Ajit Pawar’s father Anantrao Pawar).
Fights should remain within the walls of the house
He said that politics is being taken to this level. It takes generations to maintain family ties, but it takes no time at all to break them. Ajit Pawar said that development should be given priority and such fights should happen only within the four walls of the house. The crowd clapped at his comment. The Deputy Chief Minister told the crowd that it is a tradition that when everyone is together, everyone moves forward.
Ajit Pawar’s brother refuted the claim
However, Ajit Pawar’s brother Srinivas refuted his claim that their mother had objected to Yugendra contesting from Baramati. Srinivas said that I do not know why Ajit Dada made this comment. There was no discussion about Pawar Saheb. For our mother, both Ajit Dada and Yugendra are equal. I don’t think our mother would make such comments.
Supriya our younger sister
Srinivas said that he had advised the Deputy Chief Minister not to field Sunetra Pawar against Supriya Sule in the Lok Sabha elections. He said that Supriya is our younger sister and she has grown up in front of our eyes. However, Ajit Dada did not agree and went ahead with his plan. When we told them not to field Sunetra against Supriya, our mother was present there.
