Kitchen Temple Vastu: Nowadays, the trend of small flats and houses with less space has increased in cities. In such a situation, many people think that if there is no space to build a separate puja room, then can a temple be built in the kitchen? There is often confusion regarding this question. Some people consider it right, while some call it wrong. What does religion and Vaastu Shastra say about this? According to religious beliefs, the place of worship should always be clean, quiet and respectful. If a separate puja room can be made in the house, then it is considered the best option. But if the house is small and a separate room or corner is not available, a small temple can be made in a clean and high place in many kitchens.

Food is cooked in the kitchen all the time. There is oil, spices, smoke, steam and the sound of utensils. In some families, onion, garlic, egg or non-vegetarian food is also prepared in the kitchen. Such an environment is not considered suitable for worship. For this reason, in Vaastu and religious traditions, it has been advised to make the puja room separate from the kitchen.

Suppose a family has only one room and a small kitchen. In such a situation, building a separate temple is not possible. In such a condition, a small temple can be built in the north-east (Ishaan) direction of the kitchen or on a clean and high shelf. But care has to be taken that the temple should not be near a gas stove, sink or dustbin.

– Do not keep the temple directly above or in front of the gas stove.
– Do not keep idols of God near the sink or dirty utensils.
– Keep the temple away from dustbin.
– Clean the place of worship daily.
If possible, protect the temple from smoke and oil splashes while cooking.
– Keep small statues instead of very big or heavy statues.

In Vastu Shastra, Ishaan Kon (north-east direction) is considered the most auspicious for the puja room. Generally, the southeast corner (south-east direction) is considered suitable for the kitchen. Therefore, it is better if both the Vastu places are separate.
