Pollution in various cities of the country is now becoming fatal. In winter, the cities around Delhi become gas chambers. Now new research has revealed that during the rains, acid is being rained in many cities. These cities include Prayagraj, Visakhapatnam and Mohanbari of Assam. According to this report, acid rain is getting more in these cities. Similarly, rain water in Jodhpur, Pune and Srinagar is becoming alkaline due to dust from Thar desert.
This disclosure has been made in the research of scientists of Indian Meteorological Department. In this research, a report has been prepared after studying pH label in rain water in 10 major cities of the country. Scientists from the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorological have been involved in this study. According to scientists, most places identified for monitoring have recorded a significant decline in pH level. This decline is worrying. This situation is caused by urbanization and industrialization.
Threat to organisms and flora
According to scientists involved in research, whether it is acidic rains or alkaline, the effect of both types of rainfall can be dangerous. This can affect the life of flora along with aquatic organisms. According to scientists, at present, there is no danger of this acid rain or chronic rain, but this situation is definitely worrisome. Said that the lower the pH in rain water, the higher the acidity.
This reason came out
Scientists have stated in their report that in the scale of 0 to 14. The pH label is examined. Its scale is neutral. It is decided by this how acidic water is and how much shee. Global Atmosphere Watch stations were set up from 1987 to 2021 for this water study. Rain water was studied at these stations. It has found a decrease in pH label at most places. The reason for this has been told about vehicles and industrial activities.
