A big update has come out regarding the new IRCTC website which crores of railway passengers across the country were waiting for. Earlier it was expected that the new website would be launched on July 15, 2026, but now it has been postponed. According to the latest information, passengers will have to wait for a few more weeks for the new website. However, the new launch date has not been officially announced by the Railways yet.
Why is the new IRCTC website not being launched on July 15?
About a month ago, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had told during a program that the new website of IRCTC would be launched on July 15. But now according to sources related to Railways, the website is not completely ready yet and its launch may be delayed by about 3 to 4 weeks. According to the information, the website can now be launched in the first or second week of August. However, no new official date has been released by IRCTC or Railways at present.
What will be special in the new website?
The new IRCTC website is being made faster, modern and user friendly as compared to the existing platform. Its purpose is to reduce the technical difficulties faced during ticket booking.
The new website is expected to have features like multilingual support, better seat selection option, fare calendar, better accessibility for persons with disabilities, patients and students. Apart from this, the website is being designed in such a way that even during peak season and Tatkal ticket booking, the performance remains better despite heavy load on the server.
Why are passengers waiting for the new website?
Every day lakhs of people book train tickets through IRCTC. Many times travelers face problems due to heavy traffic on the website during festivals and holidays. The new website is expected to make ticket booking faster and easier than before.
However, at present passengers will have to use the existing website only. After the launch date of the new website is revealed, IRCTC will share its official information. In such a situation, passengers who are waiting for new features will have to be patient for a few more weeks.
