Train WL Ticket Confirm Chances: If you have a waiting ticket in the train, then its confirmation depends on many factors. Its chances are less during the holiday season and more during the off-season. Know in this article how much waiting is likely to be confirmed and how much waiting is considered to be in the relaxation zone.
When is Train Waiting Ticket Confirmed: Summer vacations are going on. Someone is going to the village with children, while someone is planning to visit the cold valleys. In such a situation, getting a ticket in the train has become the biggest task. After booking, when the ticket goes to waiting stage, there is only one tension in everyone’s mind, ‘Will the waiting ticket be confirmed or not?’ If you are also stuck in the same dilemma, then let us tell you that getting railway ticket confirmed is not an easy task. A complete system works behind this, which decides whether your waiting list will be cleared or you will celebrate holidays at home.
First understand these 3 code words of waiting ticket.
GNWL (General Waiting List)
This is the most common and best waiting list. GNWL is available when you book a ticket from the originating station of the train or from a nearby station. The chances of it being confirmed are highest. Railways clears this list first.
RLWL (Remote Location Waiting List)
This code is available when you book a ticket for a major station (intermediate station) falling between the starting and ending station of the train. Railways has a separate small quota for these stations. The chances of it being confirmed are less.
PQWL (Pooled Quota Waiting List)
This is available when you book a ticket between two small stations that fall in between the train’s route. Very few seats are reserved for this in the entire train. The chances of it being confirmed are lowest.
How is a waiting train ticket confirmed?
Cancellation Trend
When and how the waiting ticket gets confirmed, the simple system is that only when someone cancels his confirmed seat, the waiting person will get the seat. But the railway system does not run only on this. Three big factors work behind this. The first of which is the trend of cancellation. In summer, people book tickets in 2-3 trains for backup. As the travel date approaches, people cancel unnecessary tickets. Most cancellations occur 24 hours before the chart is created, causing the weighting to drop rapidly.
Unused Quota
Railways have separate quotas for VIPs, senior citizens, women and disabled people. If the seats in these quotas remain vacant a few hours before the departure of the train, the Railways transfers them to those on the General Waiting List (GNWL).
Chart Preparation Time
The first reservation chart is prepared just 9-10 hours before the departure of the train. It is at this time that most waiting tickets are confirmed. If your waiting is still there after this, then a second chart is prepared 30 minutes before the departure of the train, in which the last remaining seats are distributed.
How long does it take to wait for a train ticket to get confirmed?
The system of how much waiting time a train ticket can be confirmed is slightly different for sleeper class and AC. In AC class (2A, 3AC), if the weighting is between 1 to 20, then it is safe and if it is above 40, then it is considered in the risk zone. In sleeper class, if the waiting weight is between 1 to 50, then it is considered safe and if it is above 100, then there is trust in God. This rule may change during festivals and summer holidays (peak season), because during this time very few people cancel confirmed tickets.
3 tricks to confirm waiting ticket
vikalp scheme
If your waiting time is long, then you can use this feature of IRCTC. While booking tickets, please tick the ‘VIKALP’ option. If your seat is not confirmed in your train, then Railways will give you a vacant seat in another train of the same route, for which there will be no extra charge.
Auto-Upgradation
Always click on ‘Consider for Auto-Upgradation’ while booking tickets. Many times, people waiting in sleeper class get a seat directly in third AC (3AC) if it is vacant.
Current Booking
After the first chart of the train is generated, ‘Current Booking’ opens on the IRCTC app. If any seat is left vacant in the train, it is available there directly at a very cheap price.
What is Tatkal and RAC?
RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation)
If your ticket has arrived at RAC, you are allowed to board the train. In this you do not get the entire berth (sleeping seat), rather two people travel sitting on one seat. When the TTE has a vacant seat, it is made a full berth.
Tatkal Waiting List (TQWL)
Taking a waiting ticket in Tatkal is considered to be the biggest loss deal. Tatkal waiting list is cleared with great difficulty because Railways clears general waiting list first and not Tatkal. In such a situation, passengers may have to face problems.
