But since then he has not been able to do anything special. This season, Rinku has scored only 78 runs in four innings, which includes scores like 33 not out, 35 runs, 4 runs and 6 runs. The surprising thing is that after the year 2023, he has not scored a single half-century in the IPL.
That is, KKR has bought Rinku for Rs 13 crore and given him the role of a finisher, but the figures tell a different story. He is playing matches but is not able to leave any real impact. In such a situation, questions are now being raised on his ability. Former Indian captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth has also given a big statement on Rinku. He says that Rinku Singh is not an explosive batsman. He had once hit 5 sixes in 5 balls, but we are still carrying the same. He is adept at rotating the strike, but when the run rate goes beyond 10-12, his game falters and he is unable to finish the match there.
This trend is a big threat for Rinku Singh
Before the start of this season, Kolkata Knight Riders had promoted Rinku Singh and made him the vice-captain of the team. But for Rinku, becoming the vice-captain of KKR is no less than an alarm bell. In fact, due to the poor performance of Kolkata Knight Riders in the last two seasons, the vice-captain has been removed from the team. In such a situation, if Rinku Singh’s poor performance continues, he may also come under the target of the management.
In IPL 2024, KKR team had made Nitish Rana the captain of the team. He also took command of the team in 2023. But in 2024, he could play only 2 matches and then remained out due to injury. After which Nitish Rana was shown the way out of the team. At the same time, in the year 2025, KKR had announced to make Venkatesh Iyer the vice-captain of the team. But Venkatesh Iyer could also score only 142 runs in 11 matches this season. Due to which Venkatesh Iyer was also shown the way out of the team.
