IPL 2026, MS Dhoni: Indian cricket legend MS Dhoni has not played a single match in IPL 2026 yet. He is out due to injury. Not only this, he is not even coming to the field with the team on the day of the match. After all, the reason behind why Dhoni is not sharing the dressing room with the team on the match day has been explained by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey. Along with this, he has also given a big update on Dhoni’s return.
Why is Dhoni not coming to the stadium on match day?
Chennai Super Kings coach Michael Hussey has said a big thing about MS Dhoni. Hussey says that Dhoni always gives priority to the interest of the team and hence does not come to the field on match days, so that his presence does not become a distraction for the team. During the matches, he watches the matches from home, but definitely attends the training sessions. Hussey told that Dhoni himself is in favor of this decision because due to his presence in the stadium, cameras and fans surround him, which can put pressure on other players.
Before the match against Mumbai, Hussey said, ‘Dhoni is a very team oriented player. He always wants the best interest of the team. He was worried that if he came to the match, there would be too much attention on him. Fans will welcome and cheer him. He wants the team to do its work without any distraction. Hussey also told that he himself wants Dhoni in the dressing room because Dhoni gives experience and confidence. But the final decision was of Dhoni.
Big update on Dhoni’s fitness
Hussey has given a big update regarding Dhoni’s return. He said that Dhoni’s fitness is getting better, especially the condition of running and bowling is improving. Maybe he will come back to the team soon, maybe in the next match. That means Dhoni can be seen playing in the upcoming matches and the team needs him a lot. CSK is currently at number 7 with 3 wins in 8 matches. To reach the playoffs, he will have to make a strong comeback in the remaining matches.
