New Delhi: Cameron Green, the record Rs 25.20 crore signing of Kolkata Knight Riders, finally found some much-needed form with his maiden half-century in KKR colours in Match 25 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. Under immense pressure to justify his massive price tag, Green came good for the three-time champions after four failures.
The Australian all-rounder smashed a 34-ball fifty batting at No.4 to revive the KKR innings, which was rocked early with three wickets in the powerplay.
Green steadied the ship with a 55-run stand with Rovman Powell for the fourth wicket and stitched another half-century stand, but at a much brisker pace, with Anukul Roy to breathe life into the KKR innings. The duo added 63 off 22 balls for the fifth wicket.
Green targets Rashid Khan to get into the groove
At 6 from 12 balls at one stage, Green shifted gears in the 12th over with a maximum and a four off the bowling of Rashid Khan. The pair of boundaries injected confidence in the Aussie star, who smashed two more sixes in the next over, bowled by Ashok Sharma, to complete his maiden fifty for KKR, first this season and third overall in IPL. He also has a hundred to his name.
Earlier, KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and elected to bat at the Narendra Modi Stadium. KKR, who are winless this season, replaced Finn Allen with Tim Seifert, who started the innings with a four.
However, Mohammed Siraj made a superb comeback to dismiss Rahane for a golden duck. Kagiso Rabada dismissed Angkrish Raghuvanshi (8) and Tim Seifert (19_ from the other end to rattle the KKR top order.
The South African pacer returned for his second spell in style, picking up out-of-sorts Rinku Singh for 1 on the first ball of the 16th over.
