New Delhi: Apple’s 20th anniversary iPhone is already making headlines, even though its launch is still some time away. Initial leaks indicate that the company is working on its largest iPhone redesign in years, which will be centred around a more streamlined design with fewer bumps and bulges.
If the rumours prove accurate, the iPhone 20 may finally deliver Apple’s long-term vision of an edge-to-edge display with almost no interruptions. However, these claims are based on early reports, and Apple has not confirmed any details.
All-glass design could redefine the iPhone
Based on several leaks, including a tip from Digital Chat Station, Apple is trialling an almost all-glass body design that features a quad-curved display which curves slightly around the four corners. The bezels are also predicted to be much thinner, enabling Apple to fit a bigger screen into a not much larger body.
Apple might be rolling out anniversary versions that come with displays that are approximately 6.3 inches and almost 7 inches in size, which would make them one of the largest iPhones ever.
No Dynamic Island? Apple may hide everything under the display
One of the biggest rumours is the possible removal of the Dynamic Island. Apple is rumoured to be making plans to put both the selfie camera and Face ID sensors under the display, resulting in a full-screen display. While the idea has surfaced several times in previous leaks, Apple has yet to bring under-display camera technology to its smartphones.
New buttons, a faster chip and a bigger battery
Apple might be planning a 2nm A21 chip for its next generation of iPhones, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Other speculations include solid-state haptic buttons instead of physical buttons, a battery of up to 6,000mAh and better Ceramic Shield security.
If Apple is able to pack them all into an all-glass design, the iPhone 20 might be the most bold hardware upgrade the company has seen in years. That being said, it’s still too early to call them solid features, as it’s expected to come out sometime in 2027.
