On International Yoga Day, CM Pushkar Dhami practiced yoga in Banbasa and appealed to the youth to adopt yoga and stay away from drugs.
On the occasion of 12th International Yoga Day, in the state level program organized in Banbasa, Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami performed collective yoga exercises with a large number of yoga practitioners, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawans, students, youth, women and senior citizens. On this occasion, the Chief Minister, while wishing the people of the state on International Yoga Day, described Yoga as a strong basis for a healthy and balanced life.
The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of pride and happiness for him to get the opportunity to do yoga with the people of the area in this program organized on the holy land of Mother Sharda. He also expressed his gratitude to the yoga trainers, practitioners and organizers who contributed in making the Yoga Day program successful.
Yoga is not just exercise, science of complete lifestyle: CM Dhami
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Yoga is not limited to just physical exercise, but it is a way of life that establishes balance between mind, body and soul. Yoga provides mental stability to a person and moves him towards positive thinking, balanced behavior and successful life.
He said that in today’s time, problems related to stress, depression and unhealthy lifestyle are increasing rapidly. In such times, yoga has emerged as an effective natural treatment system. Regular yoga and pranayam strengthens the immune system, increases mental concentration and infuses positive energy in life.
Yoga connected the world, India’s identity increased at global level
The Chief Minister said that Yoga has worked to bind the entire world together. Through this, the message of the basic ideas of Indian culture “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” and “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah, Sarve Santu Niramaya” has reached the global level. He said that due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, International Yoga Day got global recognition. Today, crores of people in more than 190 countries of the world have made yoga a part of their daily routine and are getting health benefits from it.
Efforts towards making Uttarakhand the global capital of yoga and wellness
Chief Minister Dhami said that Uttarakhand has been a land of yoga, spirituality and spiritual practice since ancient times. The state government is continuously working with the aim of establishing Uttarakhand as the global capital of yoga and wellness. He said that the state government has implemented the country’s first yoga policy. Under this policy, a maximum subsidy of up to Rs 20 lakh is being provided for the establishment of yoga and meditation centres. Along with this, a provision of grant up to Rs 10 lakh has been made to promote research and studies in the field of yoga, meditation and naturopathy. The Chief Minister informed that five new yoga hubs are being developed in the state. Besides, availability of yoga services is being ensured in all AYUSH health and wellness centres, so that more and more people can join yoga.
Sharda Corridor Project will boost spiritual and tourism development
The Chief Minister said that the objective of organizing the state level Yoga Day program in Banbasa is also to develop the Sharda river banks as an important center of yoga and spiritual practice. He said that the state government is working to give a new religious and tourism identity to this area through the Sharda Corridor project. Under this ambitious project being developed at a cost of approximately Rs 3300 crore, Sharda River Front from Tanakpur to Banbasa and various religious and tourist places are being developed. The Chief Minister said that in the first phase of the project, redevelopment works of Sharda Ghat have been started at a cost of Rs 179 crore.
Appeal to youth to adopt yoga and stay away from drugs
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami especially called upon the youth to not consider yoga as just a one-day event, but make it a part of their daily life. He appealed to the youth to stay away from social evils like drugs and adopt a healthy, disciplined and positive lifestyle. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the people of the state will take active participation in fulfilling the resolve of making Uttarakhand a global center of yoga.
