Sushila Devi, 63, from Haryana resumed studies after 58 years. He has passed 10th exam from NIOS with 79.6% marks. Now his aim is to contest the election of Sarpanch, for which he has achieved this qualification.

Mahendragarh: It is said that there is no age limit for reading, writing and learning anything. If a person has passion, he can achieve anything at any age. A 63 year old woman from Haryana has proved this to be true. At the age when people think of taking rest, Sushila Devi has surprised everyone by passing her 10th examination.

Scored 79.6% marks in 10th

This is the story of 63-year-old Sushila Devi, resident of Mahendragarh district of Haryana. He has passed the 10th examination with excellent marks. Sushila Devi was able to study only till fifth class. After 58 years, he picked up the books again and gave the 10th exam from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). The amazing thing is that he not only passed the exam but also got first division with 79.6% marks. Sushila Devi says that this result has given her an opportunity to continue her studies and contest elections for the post of Sarpanch.

Even though Sushila Devi had left studies after fifth standard, her passion for reading always remained. Even after marriage, she continued reading newspapers and kept trying to learn new things. One day her son Vishnu took his mother’s interest in studies seriously. He was the one who got his mother’s form filled for 10th class in National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). Initially, Sushila Devi found 10th class subjects like Mathematics, Science and English very difficult. But her son, daughters and husband supported her fully. She used to study for three to four hours every day to prepare for the exam.

Sushila Devi has secured 89 marks in English, 88 in Science and Technology, 78 in Mathematics, 76 in Painting and 67 in Hindi. By passing the 10th examination in first division, Sushila Devi has proved that age can never become a wall in front of dreams and courage. His aim now is to contest the Sarpanch elections, for which he has now completed the necessary studies.
