The antibiotic nafithromycin has been developed in collaboration with the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC). It is the country’s first indigenously developed antibiotic aimed at combating antimicrobial resistance.

This medicine will be given to CABP patients once a day for three days. Over 15 years, many clinical trials have been conducted on this drug. This also includes Phase I and II trials conducted in the US and Europe. This drug has recently completed the third phase in India.
