In today’s era, people are using WhatsApp, Telegram and other digital means to send messages. In such a situation, there will be very few people who send messages through postcards or letters. You might remember how earlier people used letters or postcards to send messages through Indian Post. Times changed and the way of working also changed.
Now you must be wondering why I am telling you all this. In fact, with time the Indian Postal Department changed its way of working. The result of which was that the Indian Postal Department has recorded history.
Tax income of Rs 15,296 crore
By changing its working methods, the Indian Postal Department earned revenue of Rs 15,296 crore in the financial year 2025-26, which is 16 percent more than a year ago. Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia gave this information on Monday. Speaking to reporters here after the annual business meeting of the Postal Department, Scindia said that this year has been historic for the department. The revenue of the department was Rs 13,218 crore in the financial year 2024-25, which increased to Rs 15,296 crore in 2025-26.
This is how the way of working changed
This achievement could be achieved only due to changes in the working style of the Postal Department and new methods. Sidhiniya said that emphasis is being laid on expanding the reach of services, adding new customers and implementing Six Sigma level service agreements with customers, with the aim of achieving more growth in the next financial year. “This has been a historic year for the department,” he said. We also introduced three new products this year. Our focus is now on expansion of services, acquisition of new customers and performance as per strict Six Sigma service standards, to deliver even better growth in the new financial year. The Communications Minister said that the Postal Department has achieved a growth rate of more than 15 percent after a long time and efforts will be made to maintain this pace in the future also.
