Concern increased due to firing, India takes strict stance
After the incident, the Indian government immediately reacted and summoned the Iranian ambassador. The Ministry of External Affairs India clarified that the safety of merchant ships and seafarers is a top priority. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri expressed “deep concern” over the incident and called on Iran to restore safe passage.

Elahi said, “Our relations with India are very strong… The good relations between Iran and India have benefited India in getting its oil and allowing its tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The Prime Minister of India had very successful talks with Iranian President Massoud Pezheshkian, and the Foreign Minister also had several successful talks with the Foreign Minister of Iran.”
