Sanju Samson in Ireland: India’s tour of Ireland starts from June 26, where Sanju Samson will have a chance to become number 1. However, to capitalize on this opportunity, Sanju Samson will have to break Rohit Sharma’s record. Rohit Sharma has scored the most runs so far in the India-Ireland T20 series and if any player from both the teams has the best chance of breaking that record of Rohit, then it is Sanju Samson. India has to play 2 T20 matches on the current tour of Ireland, in which Samson can break Rohit’s record.
Samson can become number 1 by breaking Rohit Sharma’s record
Rohit Sharma is the only batsman to score more than 200 runs in the India-Ireland T20 series. He has scored 201 runs in 4 T20s with 3 half-centuries. Rohit, who has retired from T20, is no longer a part of Team India in this format. In the current team of India and Ireland, Harry Tector and Sanju Samson are the two batsmen who have a chance to overtake Rohit Sharma. But, since Samson’s average and strike rate have been better than Harry Tector in the T20 series of both the countries, he has a better chance of overtaking Rohit to become number 1.
Why does Sanju Samson have a better chance of getting ahead of Rohit?
Ireland’s Harry Tector has scored 123 runs in 5 innings of 5 T20 matches against India at an average of 30.75 and strike rate of 123. Whereas Sanju Samson has scored 118 runs in 3 T20 matches against Ireland at an average of 59.00 and strike rate of 171.01. It is clear from the statistics of both the batsmen that Samson’s graph is better than Harry Tector and he has better strength to surpass Rohit’s highest record of 201 runs.
There is no one like Sanju Samson in the current Indian team
Sanju Samson is the only player in the current Indian team that went on Ireland tour, who has 100 plus runs in the T20 series played between the two countries. After him, Ishan Kishan is the second highest run scoring Indian batsman in the current team. He has so far scored 29 runs in 2 matches in the India-Ireland T20 series.
