Status of India-England first ODI
England won the toss and decided to bat first and this decision of Harry Brook proved costly for his team. Indian bowlers took advantage of the moisture of the pitch at Edgbaston. Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna bowled brilliantly and did not allow England to play freely. However, after 7 overs, England tried to play openly. Ben Duckett batted fast but Jacob Bethel got stuck at the other end. When he was on 14 runs, he was dismissed by Gurnoor Brar. After this, Brar also showed Ben Duckett the way to the pavilion. Duckett scored 43 runs. The middle order of England collapsed completely. Captain Brook could score 1, Butler could score 5 runs. Curran did not even open an account. However, Joe Root scored unbeaten 76 and Liam Dawson brought England back into the match by scoring 68 runs. Both of them made a century partnership and took England beyond 250. Whereas at one time England had lost 6 wickets for 107 runs.
