The New Year has arrived and with it the excitement for the Lok Sabha elections will also increase. At present, there is a debate on the issue of seat sharing in the India camp of opposition parties. There has been no unanimous meeting on this matter but the parties are holding meetings at their own level and are also demanding seats. There is a matter of seat sharing between Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena and Congress in Maharashtra, where talks have started. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has said today that he has talked to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on this matter.
Sanjay Raut told that he has come to know that the Congress President has formed a committee for Maharashtra, but he has already talked to President Kharge. Nevertheless, he said that there will be talks with the committee and if any matter gets stuck then talks will be held with Chairman Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. In Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray is demanding 23 seats out of total 48 Lokalbha seats. Being a part of the India alliance, he is placing this demand before the Congress.
No tussle in MVA in Maharashtra
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut says that there is no tussle between MVA i.e. Maha Vikas Aghadi (Congress + Shiv Sena {UBT} + NCP) in Maharashtra. Now both the parties are part of the Indian alliance and when Shiv Sena alone is demanding 23 seats, it is being said that some internal talks are going on.
Congress has demanded 22 seats
According to a report in Hindustan Times, both these parties had held a meeting on Friday in which it was agreed that NCP would demand 10-11 seats. These parties believe that they are in a better position than the Congress Party in Maharashtra and the winning rate of their candidates can be good. On Friday itself, Congress held a meeting in Delhi and decided that they should get 22 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) should contest 18 seats and NCP should contest six seats.
Recommendation to give two seats to MVA
In the Delhi meeting of Congress, it was decided that two seats should be given to Prakash Ambedkar led party Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, which wants to be a part of the India alliance. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is said to be holding a meeting in Maharashtra soon and will discuss seat sharing with the leaders of the local alliance MVA. Apart from these, Uddhav Thackeray can also hold a separate meeting with the Congress high command on this issue.
