India Women beat South Africa Women: India registered its first win in the T20 series against South Africa. Thanks to the brilliance of all-rounder Deepti Sharma, it defeated South Africa by 14 runs in the fourth T20. Deepti Sharma contributed with both bat and ball in helping India win. He did something which he had not done before in his entire T20 career. Deepti Sharma, posted as DSP in UP Police, was chosen Player of the Match for that unmatched performance.
How did the Indian team reach the score of 185 runs?
In the fourth T20I, the Indian women’s cricket team batted first and scored 185 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. For India, the maximum score of 43 runs came from the bat of Jemimah Rodriguez. In the end, the fast innings of Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh helped in taking the team’s score to 185. Deepti Sharma scored unbeaten 36 runs on 26 balls. Whereas Richa Ghosh scored unbeaten 34 runs on 18 balls. Both these batsmen hit 5 fours each. A six also came off Richa’s bat.
Deepti became a hurdle in the fourth T20 against South Africa
South Africa had a target of 186 runs to win the fourth T20, and when they set out to chase it, Deepti Sharma came in their way. South Africa’s first wicket to fall was done by fast bowler Kranti Gaur by dismissing its in-form captain Laura Woolfart. But after that Deepti Sharma’s spin started showing its colors. Where Kranti Gaur, Kashvi Gautam, Shri Charani and Shefali Verma took 1 wicket each. Whereas Deepti Sharma single-handedly wiped out half of the South African team. The result was that the South African team could score only 171 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs against the target of 186 runs in the fourth T20.
Deepti did this for the first time in her T20 career
Deepti Sharma took 5 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs and thus gave the best performance of her T20 career. Deepti Sharma was chosen player of the match for scoring 36 runs with the bat and then taking 5 wickets with the ball.
Last match of the series on 27th April
A series of 5 T20 matches is being played between the women’s teams of India and South Africa. Host South Africa has already won the series by winning the first 3 T20s. By winning the fourth T20 played in Johannesburg, India has not only avoided the threat of a clean sweep. Rather, the series has been brought down to 1-3 at the moment. The 5th and last T20 of the series will be played in Benoni on 27 April.
