India won the toss and decided to field first in the fourth T20I against England. Team India is behind 2-0 in the series. Prasidh Krishna and Washington Sundar have been included in the team in place of injured Harshit Rana and Varun Chakraborty.
bristol [यूके]July 9 (ANI): India won the toss and elected to field first during the fourth T20I of the five-match England series in Bristol on Thursday. India is trailing 2-0 in the series, while the first match was washed out due to rain.
India are still looking for their first T20I win under newly appointed captain Shreyas Iyer, having suffered an unexpected 0-2 series defeat against Ireland a few days before this match. Now the best thing that can happen for India is to draw the series. Speaking during the toss, Iyer said that fast bowler Harshit Rana and spinner Varun Chakravarthy will not play, replacing Prasidh Krishna and Washington Sundar in the playing eleven. Rana and Varun suffered hamstring injuries in the third T20I and will be out of the last two matches.
What did Captain Shreyas Iyer say?
“We are going to bat first. (It’s a do-or-die game now..) Of course, and we are going to play the same way. We have seen the fearlessness that we have been showing from the first two games. It’s just that we have not been able to execute the plans as much as we would have liked, but today is a new day, a fresh start, and the boys are very excited. (The last game is history. Have to make a fresh start today?) Absolutely, but when you say positive, you have to love the atmosphere. You have to be aware of how the wicket is going, so you have to be tactical on all these things. (And what do you think about this surface?) So, we will definitely see how it is from the first ball. (And any changes in your team now that you are batting first?) We have two changes, actually two injuries. Varun and Harshit have come in.”
England captain also gave statement
On the other hand, England captain Harry Brook announced one change, with all-rounder Rehan Ahmed included in the squad in place of Liam Dawson. “Yes, we would have batted after winning the toss. The surface looks very good. As Shreyas said, there is a good even spread of grass, so we will see how it plays out. Yes, we have played brilliantly (so far in the series). We adapted well to the conditions, we communicated really well, and it was a very, very good team performance. (Overall, it has become an important game now. If you win here, you win the series.) Yes, it would be great to come to the third game and win the series, but I think we have to adapt as well as we can to the conditions. (It’s always good to see the seven, eight players performing in every match). There are a lot of good players in the XI, and everyone can contribute in different ways, be it with the bat, with the ball, or in the field. (Any changes in your team for today?) Yes, Rehan Ahmed has come in for Liam Dawson.”
