23 year old Manav Suthar played a big role in this victory of Team India. Suthar, who was making his Test debut, took 6 wickets in the first innings and 1 wicket in the second innings, while also scoring 28 runs. He was chosen Player of the Match, where he told that his heartbeats decreased a bit while batting before bowling. Suthar said, “When I went to bat, after playing 3-4 balls, I started feeling good and gradually I started getting settled. This also helped me understand how the pitch is and what it has for the spinners.”
This lesson was learned in the debut test
Suthar played an innings of 28 runs and made a half-century partnership with Washington Sundar. But the real miracle was done by his bowling, where he took a wicket in the very first over and then played the biggest role in eliminating Afghanistan by taking 6 wickets. The performance was excellent but Suthar said that he learned from this match how important it is to bowl on the same pitch continuously and he will have to bowl with patience because Test cricket is a game of patience.
