India vs Afghanistan, ODI Series: The Afghanistan team had already lost the only test played on the India tour. Now he has also lost the ODI series. India has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series. It cannot be ruled out that the Afghans will be in similar condition in the third ODI to be held in Chennai. But the question is why? The answer to this is that one ball, which has troubled the Afghan batsmen a lot. Which appeared to be the perfect weapon for Team India’s fast bowlers in the current ODI series. Afghan pacers also used that ball, but could not leave the same impact as the Indians did. Now the question is, which ball became the perfect weapon of the Indian pacers in the ODI series? That ball is short ball.
Indian pacers took almost 50% wickets on short ball.
Afghanistan team was all out in the first two matches of the ODI series. Meaning his 20 wickets fell. Of those 20 wickets, 4 wickets were taken by spinners and one batsman retired hurt. That is, only the Indian pacers took 15 wickets and almost half of these wickets were taken by the Indian fast bowlers on short balls.
Difference between short ball and IND-AFG pacers
Indian pacers bowled 126 short balls in the first 2 matches of the ODI series against Afghanistan, on which they took 7 wickets with an average of 16.28 and economy of 5.42. These figures reveal how the Indian pacers remained ahead of their Afghan counterparts in wreaking havoc using the short ball. Afghanistan’s pacers bowled 103 short balls in the first two matches of the ODI series, on which they took only 2 wickets with an average of 75.50 and economy of 8.79.
If there is short ball then victory is certain in Chennai also!
It is clear that from Dharamshala to Lucknow, Indian fast bowlers are superior to Afghan pacers in making an impact with the short ball. Now, if this infallible weapon remains the strength of Team India in the third ODI, then the script of clean sweep of Afghanistan in Chennai is certain to be written.
