IND vs AFG 1st ODI: In the first match of the three-match ODI series, Team India performed brilliantly and defeated Afghanistan by 7 wickets. In this match played in 25-25 overs after interruption of rain at the beautiful Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) stadium in Dharamshala, the Indian team registered a one-sided victory under the leadership of captain Shubman Gill. Gill not only played the captaincy innings but also died after taking the team beyond the threshold of victory. With this victory, India has taken a 1-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series.

Afghan team limited to 194

The Indian team, which won the toss and came to bowl first, got a great start from its young debut bowlers. However, Afghanistan’s opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz took his team to task by playing a brilliant century, scoring 102 runs in 51 balls. But the rest of the batsmen could not stand in front of the Indian bowlers. Fast bowler Gurnoor Brar and spinner Harsh Dubey, playing their first match for India, took 3 wickets each. On the basis of the brilliant performance of these two youngsters, the Indian team all out Afghanistan for 194 runs in 24.5 overs.

Shubman Gill played match winning innings

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave a fast start to the Indian team chasing the target of 195 runs. But Rohit was run out after scoring 16 runs and then Ishan Kishan, who came to the crease, attacked the Afghan bowlers. Ishaan played an explosive inning of 34 runs in just 22 balls and completely turned the match towards India. After Shreyas Iyer’s cheap dismissal, experienced KL Rahul also supported Captain Gill well by scoring unbeaten 39 runs.

Captain Shubhman Gill hit brilliant shots all around the field and scored an excellent unbeaten half-century while maintaining one end. He scored 84 runs in 66 balls with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes, due to which Team India achieved this target in 22.5 overs at the loss of 3 wickets.
