To save her father-in-law from the blows of sticks, Nisha had come to intervene between the two parties. He might have thought that seeing a woman and her pregnancy would stop the attackers, but the brute had blood on his head. The accused left the old man and attacked the unarmed woman. The most horrifying turn of the entire incident came when one of the accused, identified as Ramesh, gave Nisha several powerful kicks one after the other on her stomach without caring about her 8-month pregnancy. The unborn child and the mother did not have the strength to bear this cruel blow.

Nisha’s husband Vipin Kumar and other family members immediately reached the spot and hurriedly took the injured old man and Nisha to the hospital. The elderly father-in-law was admitted to the Community Health Centre, while Nisha was shifted to a big private hospital in view of her continuously deteriorating condition and excessive bleeding.
