The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in Odisha on July 26 and 27. The low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal may turn into a depression. There is a possibility of heavy rain in West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat also. Fishermen have been warned to stay away from the sea.
New Delhi [भारत]July 26 (ANI): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over Odisha, and extremely heavy rainfall at a few places, on July 26 and July 27 amid a well-marked low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha-West Bengal coasts.
According to the IMD, the well-marked depression is very likely to concentrate into a depression over the same region during the next 12 hours. It is likely to move north-westwards and cross North Odisha-West Bengal coasts by afternoon of July 27.

Jharkhand is likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated places from July 26 to 28, while Odisha may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on July 28.

The IMD has also warned of strong winds reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha-West Bengal coasts.
These winds are likely to intensify to 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph for the next 24 hours from the afternoon of July 26. Sea condition is likely to be rough to very rough along and off North Bay of Bengal and Odisha-West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts till July 27.
IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea along and off North Bay of Bengal and Odisha-West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts till July 27.
