Sonam Wangchuk, who is on hunger strike over NEET paper leak, has set 2 conditions to end the strike. Student organization CJP has appealed to them to break the fast, but has said that they will continue their agitation till the resignation of the Education Minister.
New Delhi: Environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk, who is on hunger strike for the rights of students over the NEET paper leak issue, has put two conditions before the central government to end her hunger strike. They have sent a letter to the Center saying that they will end their fast if the government fulfills its two promises.
The government had reportedly assured Wangchuk that the NEET issue would be discussed in Parliament and the removal of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan would be considered. Additionally, compensation was also promised to the families of students who committed suicide due to this case. Wangchuk has said in his letter that if both these things are implemented immediately, then he is ready to break his fast.
CJP appeals to Wangchuk to end his fast
Meanwhile, student organization CJP (Citizens for Justice and Peace) has appealed to Sonam Wangchuk to end her fast. CJP leader Abhijit Deepke said that in view of Wangchuk’s deteriorating health, it is most important to save his life. “The country needs their services further in this fight,” he said. Expressing concern over Wangchuk’s health, CJP leaders demanded that the Center should seek resignation from Dharmendra Pradhan. Abhijeet Deepke also made it clear that his movement will continue till the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan.
Little hope of talks between Center and CJP
At present, the possibility of talks between CJP and the central government seems to be diminishing. CJP spokespersons have made it clear that they will not go to anyone’s office or home for talks. CJP leader Saurav Das said, “Last time we went for talks, the police attacked the protesters. We will not let this happen again.” He also said that there is no possibility of talks. The protesters had suggested a place like the Constitution Club for talks, but the Center is not ready for it. Saurav Das said that he will come for talks only at an impartial place.
