Everyone’s eyes are on the name of the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde has ruled himself out of the Chief Minister’s race and has also agreed to accept the BJP’s CM. After this, the path of veteran BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis becoming the CM seems easy, but till the announcement is not made in BJP, nothing can be said.
BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde’s meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah late on Wednesday night has again increased the suspense over the name of CM, because PM Modi and Shah have always been surprising with their decisions. In Maharashtra, BJP is making bold moves regarding the name of the new CM. After the excellent results in the elections, BJP wants to keep every political equation in order. After Eknath Shinde stepped back, the path of Devendra Fadnavis becoming CM seemed easy.
Is there a new political dilemma?
Vinod Tawde and Amit Shah met before the meeting of Shinde-Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar with the top BJP leadership in Delhi. During this, Tawde gave feedback to Amit Shah regarding the political equation of Maharashtra, due to which it is being said that a new political dilemma has arisen.
The meeting between Amit Shah and Vinod Tawde lasted for about half an hour. During this, Tawde talked about the political developments in Maharashtra and the efforts to form a new government. Gave feedback regarding the impact on the political equations of the state if Shinde is no longer the CM. Expressed his views regarding the impact on Maratha voters of Maharashtra. Before the meeting with Shinde-Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Amit Shah is continuously taking feedback from Maharashtra leaders and assessing the political gains and losses in the name of the new CM. In such a situation, will Vinod Tawde’s feedback create difficulty for Fadnavis to become CM?
Maratha voters are very important
Devendra Fadnavis comes from Brahmin community whereas, Eknath Shinde is from Maratha community. Maratha voters are very important and decisive in Maharashtra. Shinde has put the CM’s decision in the BJP’s court and said that I have called PM Modi-Amit Shah and told them that whatever decision you take, we will accept it. If BJP chooses its CM, we will also accept that. We will not create obstacles in forming the government. Only after this statement of Shinde, BJP wants to make its CM after thinking very carefully, but there is a danger of displeasure of Marathas if Fadnavis is made the CM.
The BJP top leadership is also brainstorming to ensure that the Maratha community does not get angry if a non-Maratha CM is made. If BJP makes its CM in Maharashtra, then it will give the post of Deputy CM to both NCP and Shiv Sena. It is certain that Ajit Pawar from NCP will become the Deputy CM, then even if Eknath Shinde from Shiv Sena does not become the Deputy CM, then he can make any leader close to him the Deputy CM. In this way, it is certain to become Deputy CM from Shiv Sena, NCP and Maratha community. In such a situation, BJP is busy in making the equation afresh and the possibility of playing its bet on non-Maratha is being considered.
OBC is the political base of BJP
Vinod Tawde himself comes from Maharashtra and belongs to OBC community. Tawde is also the national general secretary of BJP and in-charge of Bihar. Eknath Shinde may have made the path easier for Devendra Fadnavis, but Vinod Tawde’s feedback has once again increased the suspense. The political base of BJP in Maharashtra has been OBC. BJP has been doing politics in Maharashtra on the basis of OBC votes since the beginning. During Fadnavis’s tenure as CM, the displeasure of BJP’s OBC leaders came to light, in which Eknath Khadse left the party and Pankaja Munde also openly surrounded Fadnavis.
In Maharashtra, BJP wants to assess the pros and cons of all the political equations before making its Chief Minister, because it does not want to take any kind of risk. BJP has rectified the deteriorated caste equation in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in the assembly elections. Now BJP does not want to take any risky step. In such a situation, it remains to be seen whether BJP will express confidence in the name of Devendra Fadnavis for the post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra or will give a surprise prize by announcing the name of a new face.
