Abhishek Banerjee Challenge: Abhishek Banerjee has given an open challenge to the rebel MPs and MLAs and offered to resign within 1 hour. Know the whole matter…
TMC Crisis: Once again there has been a big turning point in the politics of West Bengal. Abhishek Banerjee, national general secretary of Trinamool Congress (TMC) and nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has given such an open challenge to the rebel MPs and MLAs of his own party, which has increased the stir in the political circles. He clearly said that if the rebel leaders return to the party under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, they will leave their posts within just an hour. This statement has come at a time when there is intense talk of a major decision regarding the merger of 20 rebel TMC MPs in the Lok Sabha.
Why did Abhishek Banerjee have to challenge him to resign?
Abhishek Banerjee said on Saturday that if the leaders who left the party are angry only with him and that is the reason why they rebelled, then they should return to Mamata Banerjee. He said that if he is the reason for all the controversies, then he is ready to step down. But the leadership of the party and Mamata Banerjee should not weaken. Abhishek said, ‘If I am the only target of all of you, then all of you come back to the party, I will resign from my post within an hour.’ His statement is being considered a big political message amid the ongoing tussle within TMC.
All eyes fixed on 20 rebel MPs
The most important link in the whole matter are the 20 rebel MPs of TMC. According to reports, these MPs have already announced their merger with the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI). Now everyone’s eyes are on the decision of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. If this merger is approved, the political equation of Parliament may change.
Shiv Sena (UBT) also broke down
There is stir not only in TMC but also in Maharashtra politics. Six MPs of Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) have joined Eknath Shinde led Shiv Sena. The decision of the Lok Sabha Speaker on both these matters is considered important for national politics.
NDA’s strength may increase
If both the mergers are approved, the strength of NDA in the Lok Sabha will further increase. At present NDA has 292 seats. After the possible merger this number may reach 318. This will bring the government closer to two-thirds majority.
How will NDA benefit from this?
Political experts believe that if NDA’s numbers increase, it may become easier for the government to push many big bills. Meanwhile, discussions have also intensified on issues like proposals related to constitutional amendment, increasing the number of Lok Sabha seats and implementing 33 percent reservation for women. However, the final decision on these will be taken only after the parliamentary process.
