Social activist Sonam Wangchuk on Monday said they will end their indefinite hunger strike on July 20 if the government accepts responsibility for recent failures in the education system or MPs assure them that the issue will be raised in Parliament.

Sonam Wangchuk further wrote, ‘If my health or any other reason does not allow this, then MPs and leaders of different parties should come to this hospital and give the assurance mentioned above.’ The note, dated July 19, finally read, ‘From illegal detention in Safdarjung Hospital, where my freedom of movement, speech and all forms of communication is restricted.’

Delhi Police has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS ahead of the proposed protest march. Under this, there is a ban on gathering of people in large numbers.
Delhi Police issued statement
“Delhi Police clearly clarifies that no permission has been sought or given for any such protest march or procession,” the police said in a statement. Currently, prohibitory order under section 163 of BNSS is in force in New Delhi district. Police said that since Section 163 of the BNSS is in force, any kind of protest march, procession, demonstration and gathering of five or more people is not allowed, except with prior permission, at the designated protest site at Jantar Mantar in Central Delhi.
