Actress is currently winning appreciation for her portrayal of Indu Rani in Ganga Mai Ki Betiyaan. The actress has brought a distinct energy and comic timing to the character, making Indu Rani one of the most talked-about personalities in the show. As the show completes one successful year, Shraddha reflects on how the role has influenced her both professionally and personally.
Playing Indu Rani requires Shraddha to bring a lot of energy to every scene. “I am not that energetic as a person, but I don’t know what magic happens after ‘roll, rolling and action’. This is the love for my craft. Playing Indu Rani takes away a lot of energy, and after every shot I become very tired because she is very loud. I never become the character completely, but for Indu Rani, I have to gather a lot of energy and loudness that one needs. In my 17 to 18 years of career, this character has impacted me in a very different way,” she shares.
The actress admits that the character has even influenced her personality. “Playing Indu Rani for a year has impacted my real life too. My closest friend and my mother have told me that I now speak like Indu Rani and that I have become very loud as a person. I don’t have friends or family here in Chandigarh, and after playing her for a year, I feel my energy in real life has also become a little funny and loud. It is something I never expected, but the character has definitely stayed with me,” Shraddha says.
The physical demands of the role have also been significant. Shraddha reveals that she gained around 8 kg for the character. “In my initial days, Vijay Kaushik, who plays my husband Manohar Sharma in the show, told me that I have to eat a lot because playing Indu Rani would require a lot of energy. My weight had always been stagnant, but for this character I started eating more, and I gained around 8 kg. It was something very different for me,” she reveals.
For Shraddha, completing one year of the show is a special milestone. “Completing one year is a big celebration for all of us. The entire ensemble cast, the creative team, directors and producers have put in so much dedication and sincerity. I feel blessed to be a part of this journey,” she says.
