New Delhi: South Korean carmaker Hyundai Motor Company has introduced a new infotainment system called Pleos Connect, as it looks to make its cars more software-focused. The system focuses on a cleaner design and smarter interaction, especially through a new AI-based voice assistant that can understand normal conversation instead of fixed commands.
This new system will first appear in May 2026 on the Hyundai Grandeur in South Korea, before gradually reaching other markets. Hyundai says the system will keep improving over time through over-the-air updates, meaning users can get new features and performance upgrades even after buying the car.
Design and usability focus
Hyundai’s new infotainment
Pleos Connect takes clear inspiration from Tesla when it comes to design. It uses a large 17-inch touchscreen placed within the driver’s line of sight, keeping things simple and easy to access. At the same time, Hyundai has not removed physical controls completely. Buttons on the steering wheel and below the screen are still present, which makes things easier to control while driving. Not everything has been shifted to the touchscreen, and that actually feels like a practical choice.
Smarter voice assistant
Infotainment with a new voice assistant
One of the key parts of Pleos Connect is its new voice assistant, Gleo AI. Instead of needing fixed or specific commands, it is built to understand the way people normally speak. Users can speak normally, and the system will respond accordingly.
Hyundai claims the assistant can also handle multiple tasks at once. For example, it can adjust the air conditioning and set navigation in a single request. It is also said to recognise who is speaking inside the car, which could help personalise responses.
With this system, Hyundai is pushing towards a future where cars rely more on software and connected features. The company expects Pleos Connect to reach a large number of Hyundai and Kia vehicles by the end of the decade.
