Huma Qureshi opts for sharp tailoring and vintage glam at Cannes Women in Cinema gala

New Delhi: No one wants to keep it simple when it comes to walking the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival. With voluminous outfits and conventional looks, Huma Qureshi ditched them all to serve glamour in a striking black deep-neck gown.

Attending the prestigious Women in Cinema gala dinner hosted by the Red Sea Film Foundation, the Indian actor leaned entirely into sharp, masculine tailoring. The outfit for the special evening was designed by Saudi Arabian fashion designer Eman AlAjlan.

The plunging neckline of the striking black gown made it attractive with a well-paired diamond choker from Ghafari and tiny diamond earrings from Proffini. The sculpted bodice in velvet hugged her perfectly with a flowing skirt in sheer net and layers falling on the floor, making it look dramatic. The subtle and creative play of textures in a monochromatic look made it look glamorous for the red carpet.

For the hair, Mira Parmar carefully styled it in Old-Hollywood glam with soft curls framing the face and cascading in structured yet fluid waves. For the makeup, a subtle yet glam look was picked in colour, but leans heavily into bronzed tones.

The coral-pink lip adds a pleasant touch, though one can’t help but think that a bold red lip might have enhanced Qureshi’s look even more, considering the classic theme she aimed to capture. Everything came together perfectly to serve only beauty looks at the festival, as styled by Leepakshi Ellawadi.

Huma took to her Instagram, sharing images from the evening and giving everyone a glimpse of the most starry night and captioned it, “Catch me if you Cannes”.

Qureshi is no tepid first-timer at Cannes, having made her debut back in 2012, followed by consecutive appearances in 2018 and 2019. So the uber-safe closet play for her fourth time seems underwhelming.
