How are clothes washed in dry clean? Why is it so expensive to wash these clothes? Telling us about it here…
Sometimes some of our clothes need special care. For example, soft and delicate clothes like silk, woolen, linen etc. are usually difficult to wash, in such a situation we give these clothes for dry cleaning.
Dry cleaning removes dirt from clothes using a special chemical solution, this process does not cause any damage to the clothes. It is a bit expensive because care has to be taken that no harmful chemicals are used in it. But to keep expensive clothes safe, they have to be dry cleaned.
In the process of dry cleaning, some special chemicals are used to clean the clothes. The most common of these is the use of a chlorinated solvent called perchlorethylene. This chemical easily removes dirt, oil and stains from clothes. Apart from this, petroleum based solvents like Stoddart solvent, hydrocarbon solvent etc. are also added.
A big machine is used for dry cleaning. It looks like a washing machine, only slightly larger. First of all, clothes are put in the machine and its door is closed. The solvent is then added and the machine is started. The machine rotates the inner drum and sprays solvent onto the clothes, cleaning them. After 8-10 minutes, the machine is turned off and the solvent is removed and the clothes are taken out to dry. Dry cleaning does not use surf and water.
Chemicals and petroleum solvents are very expensive, so when clothes are given for dry cleaning, a cloth can cost up to Rs 200-300.
