Correct method of giving water to Sun God
Always offer water to the Sun God in a copper pot. Fill water in a copper pot and add red sandalwood, red flowers, kumkum and some Akshat in it. Then offer that water to the Sun God. Hold the lotus with both hands and place it above your head. Have darshan of Sun God through the falling stream of water. While offering water, chant the mantra ‘Om Ghrini Suryay Namah’ or ‘Om Suryay Namah’. After offering Arghya to Sun God, Aditya must recite Hridaya Stotra.
Do not make these mistakes while giving water to Sun God
While offering water to the Sun God, take care that the stream of water does not fall on your feet. Never offer water to the Sun God in a steel, plastic or glass vessel. Do not offer water to Sun God in the afternoon. The time after sunrise is the best for watering. Always offer Arghya to the Sun God after bathing etc., wearing clean clothes. Offer water to the Sun God while facing east.
