Malai laddus are very soft and melt in the mouth. In Indian homes, mothers either make this sweet on the occasion of festivals or buy it from a confectionery shop. You can make this delicious Malai Laddu at home also. Its recipe has been shared by chef and content creator Guntas Sethi. He has explained how to make laddus in very simple steps which will hardly take you 30 minutes.

Be it a festival or want to serve sweets to guests. These laddus are best for every occasion. So let’s see the step by step recipe.

Ingredients of Malai Laddu

2 liter milk, 2 tbsp lemon juice/vinegar, 1/2 cup cream, 1/4 cup condensed milk, 1/4 tsp cardamom powder, saffron milk (for garnish), chopped dry fruits for garnish (optional).

Malai Laddu Recipe

  • First of all, keep milk boiling in the pan. When it comes to two boils, turn off the gas.
  • When the heat of the milk reduces a little, add vinegar or lemon juice to it and stir with a ladle so that the chenna starts separating.
  • After curdling the milk, put it in a muslin cloth and wash it thoroughly so that there is no sourness in it.
  • Filter the water completely using chhena. Squeeze it so that no water remains at all.
  • Now take out the chhena in a big plate and knead it well with your hands so that it becomes completely smooth.
  • Now add cream and condensed milk in a pan and cook on low flame while stirring for 1-2 minutes.
  • In this also add the chhena prepared by kneading and mix it well while stirring.
  • When the entire mixture comes together and starts leaving the pan, add cardamom powder and mix.
  • Let this mixture cool slightly and make small round laddus from it and keep them in a plate.
  • Now pour some saffron milk over the laddus and garnish with one saffron thread and chopped almonds or cashews.

To make these laddus, mainly Chhena (a kind of cottage cheese) has been used. According to USDA, 100 grams of cheese provides 11.1 grams of protein. It contains 2.76 grams lactose, 83 mg calcium, 159 mg phosphorus, 104 mg potassium, 8 mg magnesium, 9.7 microgram selenium. Apart from this, it is also a source of Vitamin D, A, B complex.
