MP Horticulture Growth: Madhya Pradesh government is focusing on increasing the income of farmers by promoting horticulture, spices and food processing. New employment and earning opportunities will be created through modern technology, makhana farming, festivals and branding. Know the complete details.

Horticulture Farming Madhya Pradesh: In the review meeting held in Bhopal, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that there are employment opportunities on a large scale in the fields of horticulture, spice crops, gardening and food processing. He instructed the officials to connect the farmers with horticulture crops which give more income from small land. Emphasis was also laid on promoting organic farming and use of natural fertilizers.

Increasing demand in international market, emphasis on branding

The Chief Minister said that the international demand for the state’s spice and horticulture crops is increasing rapidly. To meet this demand, there is a need to develop better marketing, branding and strong supply chain. Instructions were also given to promote the cultivation of medicinal crops and increase their use for Ayurvedic medicines.

State’s strong position in production

It was told in the meeting that Madhya Pradesh ranks first in the country in spice production. Apart from this, it ranks third in flower and vegetable production and fourth in fruit production. Keeping in mind Simhastha-2028, Floriculture Center of Excellence is being established in Ujjain.

Makhana farming and festival will get a boost

Makhana farming is being promoted in 14 districts of the state, the aim of which is to expand to 85 hectares. Besides, to encourage the farmers, Mango Mahotsav will be organized in Bhopal, Chilli Mahotsav in Khargone, Banana Mahotsav in Burhanpur and Vegetable Mahotsav in Indore.

Focus on modern technology and hi-tech nursery

Micro irrigation is being expanded in 15 thousand hectare area in the state. 40 nurseries are being made hi-tech and smart seed farms are being developed. Instructions were given to provide modern technology, improved seeds and better markets to the farmers.

Direction to make farming a profitable business

The Chief Minister also said that it is necessary to connect farmers with fruits, flowers, vegetables, spices and medicinal crops, so that they can get cash income faster. Development of food processing units will increase both employment and income.
