Farmers of Uttar Pradesh hope to get relief from debt from the government by taking loans from the Cooperative Department. Through the government committees of Ghazipur, the government has given loans of about Rs 10 crore 44 lakh to 5671 farmers for fertilizers and seeds. Which the farmers are no longer depositing, regarding which the Cooperative Department has also issued a notice. Now 5% collection fee will be collected from the farmers. People said that farmers are waiting for the loan waiver scheme. Farmers want the government to waive off their loans. This is the reason why farmers are not paying the loans and this loan has increased to close to Rs 11 crore.
To provide convenience to farmers in farming, the Cooperative Department provides loans on the basis of land holding and crop through the committees run by the cooperative. So that the farmers can easily do the fertilizer, seeds and other work required for their fields. After the crop is harvested and sold, whatever interest the committee owes can be paid along with its loan. For which loans were given to thousands of farmers by the Cooperative Department in Kharif and Rabi season 2023-24. Out of which many farmers have repaid their loans but still 5617 farmers of the district owe Rs 10 crore 44 lakh to the cooperative societies.
Notice issued to farmers
For repayment of this loan, farmers were contacted several times through cooperative societies and they were also asked to deposit the loan, but the farmers are not taking any interest in depositing the loan. At the same time, the department is planning to issue notice under section 95A and collect 5% fee against all the farmers who do not pay the loan.
AR Cooperative Anshul Kumar said that loans are sanctioned to farmers on the basis of land holding and crop. The department has identified 5617 farmers through 156 committees. Those who have outstanding dues from cooperative societies. Farmers were contacted several times regarding this dues but the farmers are not taking any interest in depositing their loans.
Farmers get these facilities
He said that after the issue of the notice, the facility of getting interest subsidy will also be abolished. Many works related to farming are done by government committees. Along with distribution of fertilizers, loan facilities are also available.
Talking about farming in Ghazipur district, wheat, barley, pulses, oilseeds and potatoes are cultivated on a large scale under Ravi farming in the district. Paddy, maize, millet, jowar etc. are also cultivated under Kharif crop. From time to time, when there is a need of money for irrigation, seeds, fertilizers etc. for these crops, the resource cooperative societies help the farmers by giving them loans.
