Himachal Pradesh Road Accident: At least seven people died and others got severely injured after a bus in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district fell down onto another road in the early hours of Saturday.
As per the reports, the tragic accident occurred on the Bairagarh-Chamba road at around 7 am. A private bus travelling from Bairagarh to Chamba lost control at the Chaluj turn near Devikothi and fell onto another road below.
Eight Passengers Dead
As per the preliminary information, seven people, including the bus driver and conductor, were killed in this horrific road accident. Apart from this, around seven other passengers got severely injured due to the impact of the collision. While the exact reason is not known yet, the accidents reportedly occurred due to overspeeding.
Rescue Op Underway
The officials, upon receiving the information, arrived at the site and began the rescue operation. The injured passengers have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment. The officials stated that a case has been registered and a detailed probe will be launched into the matter soon.
“Upon receiving information about the accident, police teams and administrative officials were immediately dispatched for relief and rescue operations. The injured were taken to Civil Hospital, Teesa, for treatment. Police have registered a case and will investigate the cause of the accident,” Vijay Kumar Saklani, SP, Chamba, was quoted as saying by Jagran.
Locals Help Injured Passengers
As per the preliminary information, the Sharma Travelers bus departed from Bairagarh for Chamba at around 6:30 am on Saturday. The driver reportedly lost the control near the Chaluj turn when the bus had barely travelled three kilometers, leading to the tragic accident.
The local villagers immediately gathered at the scene and began rescue and relief work after informing the concerned authorities. They rescued the stuck injured passengers and admitted them to the Civil Hospital in Teesa for treatment.
