Voting for the second phase of Panchayat elections in Himachal Pradesh started from 7 am today in a peaceful atmosphere. Huge enthusiasm was seen among the voters since morning at 7334 polling stations set up in 1276 panchayats of the state.

Long queues started forming outside the polling booths in the villages early in the morning and people came to exercise their franchise. In this phase, more than 17 lakh 30 thousand voters will decide the future of Panchayat representatives.

The voting process will continue till 3 pm. After this, counting of votes for the posts of Pradhan, Deputy Pradhan and Ward Member will be started in the respective Panchayat buildings. At the same time, the ballot boxes for BDC and Zilla Parishad elections will be kept in the strong room under tight security. The results of these posts will be declared on 31 May.
