Murder weapon not found even after a month

On June 13, 2026, cashier Janaki Das was shot dead in broad daylight at Shri Kumar Medical Store in Sector-11. After the incident, the police arrested many accused, but the pistol and .32 bore pistol used in the murder have not been recovered till date. Due to this, the family of the deceased is angry with the police action.

Wife said – Till date I have not told why my husband was killed.

The deceased’s wife Hina says that her husband had no enmity with anyone. He never received any threat from any gangster. The police only said that the arrested shooter did not even know Janaki Das before and the crime was carried out only on the basis of appearance.

Wife raised serious questions

Hina raised the question that if the shooter did not know her husband then who was his real target? Was her husband a victim of mistaken identity or was there some other reason behind the murder? Till date the police has not been able to answer these questions.

Crying she said – kill us with the same weapon

Hina became emotional while talking to the media. She said that even after a month, the police could not tell why her husband was murdered and where the weapon used in the murder was. Weapons were hidden in the forest

Investigation has revealed that after the incident, the accused kept roaming in Chandigarh for about 50 minutes. After this, he hid the weapons used in the murder in the forest near Sector-43 bus stand. It is alleged that the main accused had sent the video of hiding the weapons to gangster Goldie Dhillon, after which his henchmen removed the weapons from there. For this reason the police have not been able to recover the weapon yet.

Appealed for justice to the Governor

To get justice for her husband, Hina met Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria and informed about the entire matter. He raised questions on the police investigation and demanded fair action. The Governor on the spot directed the DC of Chandigarh to take necessary action in the matter. After this the DC assured the victim’s family of a fair investigation.

Demand for government job for son

Hina has demanded from the administration that after the murder of the only earning member of the family, her son should be given a government job. He says that the family is broken both financially and mentally and the government should help them on humanitarian grounds.
