In the first ODI match against the West Indies, Team India secured a comfortable victory by eight wickets at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
During the match, showcased his skills with the willow. Facing just 88 deliveries, the right-handed batsman smashed an unbeaten 139 runs, laced with 10 boundaries and nine maximums.
With this, the Delhi-born cricketer achieved several feats. The unbeaten ton helped Kohli to become the player with the most ODI runs in a country, which is 7006 runs.
He also became the fastest batsman to reach 15,000 runs in the format. The 37-year-old cricketer took 15,950 balls and 303 innings to accomplish the feat.
Kohli is also the only batsman to score 10 ODI centuries against two different teams. He smashed 10 centuries each against the and Sri Lanka.
He also achieved the feat of scoring the most runs by any batsman without being dismissed at a venue. Kohli has now scored 338 runs in Thiruvananthapuram.
His nine sixes during the knock were also the highest number of maximums for him in an ODI innings.
With 42 tons, Kohli now has the joint-most international hundreds at home.
With this, the “Men in Blue” have taken a lead by 1-0 against the Caribbean team. The second ODI match between the teams will be played on September 30 at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Guwahati.
