Hearing postponed on demand of ASI survey of Gyanvapi’s Vajukhana

Prayagraj, 21 November (HS). The petition filed demanding a survey by ASI of the Vajukhana of Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi could not be heard on Thursday. Now this case will be heard on December 2.

The case is being heard by a single bench of Justice Rohit Ranjan Aggarwal. Petitioner Rekha Singh has filed a civil revision petition. In the petition, a demand has been made to conduct a survey of the Vajukhana area of Gyanvapi Mosque from ASI. Hindu side’s lawyer Saurabh Tiwari says that only the ASI survey of Vajukhana will ensure the determination of the religious character of the disputed site. At the same time, the Muslim side is citing the Supreme Court order to maintain the status quo. Therefore ASI survey cannot be done. In such a situation, this case is not worth hearing.
