Iceland Cricket Trolls Gautam Gambhir: After the historic and shameful 0-2 defeat of the Indian cricket team in the T20 series against Ireland, there has been a flood of memes on social media. Amidst the anger and criticism of the fans, the official social media handle of Iceland Cricket, famous for its witty and sharp statements, has taken a big and sharp taunt on Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir. This post of Iceland Cricket is becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which they have made fun of Gambhir’s coaching record.
Iceland Cricket made fun of Gambhir
Soon after India’s narrow 1-run defeat to Ireland in the second T20, Ireland Cricket took a dig at the ‘Gambhir era’, writing, ‘We can confirm that we have no desire to include Gautam Gambhir in our coaching staff. However, he clearly has an amazing talent. To take these excellent Indian players and go to Ireland and produce such results…it really takes extraordinary and unique skills.
We can confirm that we don’t wish to add Gautam Gambhir to our coaching staff. He clearly has talent, though. To take those Indian players and deliver those results in Ireland takes truly remarkable gifts.

Gambhir has already been taunted
This is not the first time that Iceland Cricket has targeted Gautam Gambhir. Earlier, when the Indian team had to face a crushing defeat against New Zealand at home and then in the test matches against South Africa, this board had also trolled Gambhir. At that time he had written, ‘Let us tell our fans that Gautam Gambhir will not be invited to become the coach of our national team. That position is already filled and we have won 75% of our matches in 2025.
Continuous setbacks during Gambhir’s tenure
The results of some series have been quite disappointing for Gautam Gambhir, who took over as the head coach of the Indian team after Rahul Dravid in July 2024. In 2024, India had to lose the Test series against New Zealand at home by 0-3, which was India’s first home Test series defeat in 12 years. Earlier this year, India also suffered a crushing defeat in the ODI series against New Zealand. Now the world champion Indian team’s 2-0 victory over a team like Ireland in the T20 series is raising big questions on Gambhir’s strategies.
