Hollywood actress Hayden Panettiere’s untimely demise has been officially ruled accidental, with police in Greenville, South Carolina, concluding their investigation.
The Greenville Police Department confirmed the findings, stating the decision was based on the medical examiner’s determination and the thorough investigation.
Panettiere, known for her memorable roles in ‘Heroes’ and ‘Scream 6’, was found unresponsive at an Airbnb on August 16, just days before what would have been her 37th birthday. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office had previously declared her death an accident on September 22. The tragic cause was attributed to the toxic effects of a combination of substances, including fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine.
Before these toxicology findings were made public, Panettiere’s representatives had urged the public to await the official investigation results, cautioning against unverified reports. They emphasized the need for patience, stating, “The answers we are all seeking will come.”
Her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, and his brother, Zach, were present at the time of her passing. Neither has been charged in connection with her death. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) had also joined the inquiry, even searching Panettiere’s home for illegal drugs, highlighting the serious nature of the substances involved.
Panettiere, who leaves behind her 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, had openly discussed her struggles with addiction. Months before her death, she released her candid memoir, ‘This Is Me: A Reckoning’, which became a New York Times bestseller, shedding light on her personal battles. Her story serves as a poignant reminder of the complexities of addiction and its devastating impact.
