Padma Shri, Harmanpreet Kaur: Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur was awarded the Padma Shri, the country’s fourth highest civilian honour. Happiness over this honor received by Harmanpreet Kaur for her charismatic contribution to cricket was seen not only in India but also in England. The players of the Indian women’s team, who reached there for the England tour, expressed happiness over her achievement. They cheered for their captain, clapped and while all this was happening, Harmanpreet also joined Smriti on video call. Smriti Mandhana showed the whole scene to Harmanpreet Kaur on video call.

BCCI released a video of the joy seen in England on Harmanpreet’s achievement, which is from the dressing room of the Indian women’s cricket team. In the dressing room, all the players saw Harmanpreet Kaur being honored with Padma Shri on TV. As soon as Harmanpreet Kaur’s name was announced for Padma Shri, all the players started cheering and clapping. During this entire celebration, Harmanpreet Kaur remained connected with Smriti Mandhana on video call.

Indian women’s cricket team on England tour
The Indian women’s cricket team is currently on a tour of England, where it has to play 3 T20s and 1 Test. Harmanpreet Kaur is also a part of Team India on this tour and the captaincy is also in her hands. But due to receiving the Padma Shri Award, Harmanpreet did not go on the England tour with the team. The Indian women’s team played a practice T20 match with the ECB team on 25 May, which they won by 7 wickets.
Schedule of India’s tour of England
On the England tour, the Indian women’s cricket team first has to play a T20 series, which is starting from May 28. The first T20 will be played in Chelmsford. Whereas the second T20 will be held in Bristol on 30 May. The third and last T20 will be played in Taunton on June 2. The only Test on the tour will be played at Lord’s from July 10 to 13.
