A passenger’s bag containing foreign currency worth Rs 10.14 lakh was found abandoned at Guwahati’s LGBI Airport. The airport’s Lost and Found team and CISF tracked the passenger with the help of CCTV footage and returned the bag safely.
A tense situation turned into relief when Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) successfully recovered an unclaimed bag containing foreign currency worth over Rs 10.14 lakh and returned it to the passenger. The airport, operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), said in a press release that the incident occurred during a routine security check at Terminal 1 on June 26, 2026, when CISF noticed an unclaimed bag at the Automated Tray Retrieval System (ATRS).
The press release said, “Following standard security protocols, the bag was secured and handed over to the airport’s Lost and Found team. Inside it were $10,720, 175 Chinese Yuan, medicines and personal belongings. The name written on the bag and the medicine strips provided the first clue in identifying the passenger. After examining the CCTV footage, the Lost and Found team confirmed that the passenger had already boarded a flight to Hyderabad. CISF and Hyderabad airport In coordination with the authorities, the passenger was traced, ownership was confirmed and the bag was returned to an authorized representative.”

Earlier on June 15, India’s largest private airport operator, Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) was honored with the Prix Versailles, one of the world’s renowned architecture and design awards. According to an official release from Adani, both Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and Terminal 2 of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati (LGBIA) have made it to the World’s Most Beautiful Airports List 2026. This accreditation acknowledges design, sustainability and passenger-centric planning.
The Prix Versailles is a prestigious annual global award in architecture and design, presented at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris since 2015, a release said. It rewards newly launched airports and terminals for their contemporary creations that present a rare synthesis of a distinctive architecture, demonstrating how airports are moving beyond traditional design to offer a richer and more harmonious view of the world.
Along with NMIA and LGBIA, the list includes five other international airports, including Guangzhou, China; Frankfurt am Main, Germany; Kandal Stung, Cambodia; Pittsburgh, United States; and San Diego, United States, have also been recognized. (ANI)
